Much like the Balcony scene rewrite, this activity provided students the opportunity to be creative. For the first time in the unit, students created an alternate (visual) representation of the text. They demonstrated understanding of the text, and used textual evidence to support their understanding. Students were also required to use action verbs in their summaries for each frame. This demonstrated the value of using prescriptive methods for teaching grammar. The students truly excel when they're allowed the opportunity to be expressive and creative. Even students who deemed themselves "not artist" demonstrated their ability to correlate and connect the text with a visual expression.
